About us - Brief History

The Supporters Club was formed by six members just after the last war and met in a house in Wigston Road.
A year later the club members moved to Hartley Avenue School and stayed there until after the 1964 Cup Final when three caravans were purchased and later a Wimpy canteen site hut.
In 1972, a piece of ground was purchased in Castle Street and a new club was built.

The Current West Ham United Supporters Club, built in 1973 celebrated its twenty fifth anniversary in December 1998.
Throughout 1996 the entire club was re-furbished which resulted in the club being voted Club Re-furbishment of the year by the trade magazine The Club Mirror.

Extract from local press on our 25th Anniversary.

Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnet) one of West Ham's most famous fans, has always guaranteed that the name of West Ham United is mentioned with every opportunity. Over the past 25 years, we have done the same with the Supporters Club. Word-of-mouth recommendations have always ensured that the club enjoys a healthy number of members

You could write a book about the history of the club from the people who first founded it and met in Wigston Road in caravans and a Wimpy site hut. They witnessed the building of the present club with financial backing from West Ham United and the sheer determination of the late Tom Jenkinson.

Over the years we have managed to secure the services of many entertainers, several of who have gone on to become top TV and stage artistes. TV sports personalities, as well as hundreds of overseas visitors, have all contributed to putting our club on the map.

Our main achievement has been the fact that we have managed to attract a membership that has remained loyal over the years, many of whom .can remember the construction of the club 25 years ago and still delight in reminiscing over a glass of beer about the old days.

A club is only as successful as the quality of the membership.

We sincerely believe that we could not have wished for a more loyal group of members and staff throughout the past 25 years and hopefully for the next 25  years
